I saw about 5 minutes of the show and had to shut it off. Reality TV is getting very very annoying. Who knew there could be SO MUCH DRAMA in the kitchen and culinary world?

I totally missed it last night-I'm so glad Guy won, I think he will add something new to Food TV. Reggie just reminded me too much of Al Roker (not that I dislike Al, I just want someone to do something different).

Other than that, I watch no reality TV. The events they put those people through are too "unreal".

We totally LOVE the Food Network and watch it A LOT, especially on the weekends. The only channel that gets more play in our house is the Disney Channel. My favorite show on there is Barefoot Contessa. My little girl's favorite is Semi-Homemade.

I don't watch much reality TV either (pretty much just American Idol), but I like the Next Food Network Star. I didn't care much who won (as long as it wasn't Carissa -- didn't care for her), but what I really enjoyed was the behind-the-scenes aspect of it. It definitely makes you appreciate how tough it is to have a cooking show (no matter how easy or fun it looks!) and how skilled the people who do it well really are. I also enjoy seeing the hosts/chefs that I really like in a different role and setting.

Officine Panerai has reinterpreted the original watch in this configuration for the first time, remaining faithful to its historic elements while subtly enhancing its construction. While maintaining a 44mm diameter, reminiscent of the original Ref. 5218-202/A, the case breaks with the standard 47mm case size typically used by the Marines. This shift reflects Officine Panerai’s mission to create a watch that retains the essence of a large case while incorporating a minimalist, modern aesthetic, resulting in a clean, streamlined design. The 44mm stainless steel case of the PAM05218 is now coated with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) in a color that visually matches the original PVD treatment used on the Ref. 5218-202/A. The result is a striking all-black case that retains the captivating aesthetic of the original Ref. 5218-202/A and distinguishes it from the numerous stainless steel watches launched in 1993. DLC is a carbon-based coating applied to metal surfaces that enhances hardness, abrasion resistance, and corrosion resistance, while also giving the case its distinctive black appearance.


This watch is equipped with the P.6000 manual-winding movement, boasting a power reserve of three days. Measuring 15.5 lignes in diameter, it houses a balance wheel that oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour. A horizontal balance bridge securely holds the oscillator in place, enhancing the movement's stability and precision.


The inscription "Marina Militare" on the dial pays tribute to Panerai's historic partnership with Marina Militare, which began in the 1910s and now spans over a century. Furthermore, the numerals and lettering have been specially redrawn to reflect the original font of the 1993 model. Unlike Panerai's signature sandwich construction, this watch features a single-layer skeleton dial: engraved and filled with Super-LumiNova®, with a subtle concave finish that gives the numerals a three-dimensional effect. A signature visual feature of the 1993 model has been meticulously restored: the "mismatched" dial and hands. Originally caused by a chemical reaction between tritium and varnish, early production models featured orange-brown numerals while the hands remained green—a contrast that later became a highly collectible element.


This unintentional anomaly was corrected in subsequent batches, but only a small number of these "mismatched" models were produced, making them particularly rare. The PAM05218 recreates this effect with caramel-colored Super-LumiNova® on an engraved, single-layer matte black dial, paired with lighter-toned hands – a nod to one of the most cherished details of Panerai's debut civilian watch. The case, with its closed screw-down caseback, is water-resistant to 30 bar (approximately 300 meters). The Officine Panerai Firenze logo, the historic OP emblem, and the watch's features on the caseback remain identical to those of the original. A homage is provided by a straight, vintage-inspired golden-brown calfskin strap with a black steel DLC trapezoidal buckle and, like the 1993 model, structural stitching, lending the watch a captivating vintage appeal.
